title hearing vs. bonded title
« on: March 21, 2012, 08:27:49 AM »

time to get off my ass and get the wagon legalized so i can drive it or do whatever.

i have been researching for a while and even though the car didn't cost me much, most bonded title processes look like it would cost me like $250-300 to get it done. i also heard about a title hearing which apparently costs more like $60 and requires less paperwork.

i've never done this, any of you guys have experience? i contacted a couple title service places but they don't want to just tell me how the process goes when they could charge me to do it, and calling the clerks at the tax offices is a dead end too, lol.

Not sure what kind of car you have but the bonded title is based off of the blue book value of the car and you should be able to get a quote from a insurance company over the phone. My s13 was only 120.00 three years ago so I'm sure it would be less now as the car gets older, so if your car is newer/more expensive it would be more. Thats just a reference for ya. I'v never heard of "hearing" title sorry I can't help with that.

did that include all the forms and fees for the state required to get plates and stuff too? my gf's maxima was like $350 but there was extra BS and the car was valued more.

A bonded title literally takes ONE day to do including getting it registered. I did the 91 hatch in my driveway last week and it cost 250 total with the bond and registration. Its not hard at all and WAY worth doing. Dont try to do a hearing or anything retarded like that. Just spend the extra 150 bucks and get your title without any hassle :)

My .02 cents. Ive done the bonded title plenty of times with no hassles.

What's the proccess for a bonded title? I have a FB in my driveway I may register soon. Where does one go to get the paperwork and where do you take it afterwards. It's all different from CA state stuff so I have no idea. In CA you have to send a registered letter to the last owner and some other stuff before you can do a lost title. That's what it's called in CA anyways.

You need to look up your closest REGIONAL office of the dmv. The fort worth one is on Gravel drive off of 820 and 30/121.

Get the vin off the car. Get a pencil etching of it just in case. Most of the time they dont ask for this.

Also, bill of sale helps but its not required.

Anyway, go into the office and tell them you have a car that you bought a while back as a fixer upper and now need a title. They will get you to fill out a form. Fill it out as a RUNNING car. If you put that it doesnt have an engine or whatever they might not let you do it. clunkers crap.

Anyway, they will give you a number based on the cars value x1.5. 1991 240sx is 950x1.5. Then, walk out the door and around the corner to your left (if you walked out of the door.) There is an insurance/bond company right there. They will charge you based on the number. Mine was 125 bucks.

They will print stuff out for you. Take that info to your local tax office that you register your car at. Pay the normal registration fees and BOOM your done :)

yup. my insurance company said $50 to bond thru them, so if you're insured check w them first as you might save some $$. all the forms are available online so you can have them filled out when you go to get your shit titled.

FYI bond company wanted to charge me $350 for all this. lol.

indiadating? from what i've seen around here, that consists of getting a group of at least 4 of your indian friends and stalking the fuck out of some unlucky girl by walking 2 steps behind her everywhere she goes and sending her threatening text messages in broken english if you see her with a guy. sign me up you fucking guy!
