LS1 swap on my S13 questions....

(1/5) > >>

joel_fuentes:
my ka finally gave up, was thinking about an rb20det but got told its not that much of a difference, THAN i found out you can put an ls1 in that thing i think thats crazy but would really like to go for that swap... is there a certan LS1 that im supposed to go off and buy?

RotaDrifta69:
The only real difference in swapping into the S Chassis, is that you need the '03+ GTO oil pan. The trans needs to be T56(Camaro/Trans Am/GTO) but the engine can be from ANY of the LSx based cars. Even trucks :)

McKinney Motorsports, Sikky, Hinson Motorsports, and a few others make LSx swap kits. Just pick the one that is right for you!

El Camino had a '97 ls1.  James' Camaro currently has a '98 ls1, bone stock with manifolds 326rwhp.  Nothing wrong with them, they're fine if you find one in good shape.

Derrick:
'97-'98 vs '99+ is a non-issue for anyone looking for a good-condition ls1, simply because just finding a good-condition ls1 is becoming increasingly difficult.  There are a few detail differences, but the '97-98 motors work just as well within the context of this thread.

The OP would be fine with any year ls1 as long as he can find one in good shape.  There is nothing else to say.

Ryan:
I woudnt even be opposed to a 5.3 to cut costs and get your feet in te door. Tooany of these get started, over built, and then never finished.
