General Discussion / Re: I need help!!! Look what happened to my Corolla!!

Yeah, caster arc has to be the most retarded argument possible.

its a corrola, the chassis flex will cause more caster change than the tension rod geometry being changed.

Theres not much you can do on the front suspension of a macpherson car that won't change caster.

This is quite true.  I guess I was too busy thinking of things in a "perfect world" environment.  However, as for it being a retarded argument, I somewhat respectfully disagree.  I don't think that considering the effects of a modification is a bad thing to do.  In fact, it should be a consideration before you throw anything at a car.

General Discussion / Re: Suggestions for SR importers
« on: October 30, 2007, 12:13:46 PM »
+1 for JIS.  I never knew they imported stuff, but they came highly recommended to me by a good friend, and ended up doing top notch work for me twice now.  I also hear Gcorp is good, and have had many friends have a lot of good luck with JHot as well.  Stay away from JDMEnginescorp or whatever they're called over in Dallas.

I think deflection would be a little different, kinda like slop.  If they do in fact bolt up and maintain OEM geometry, then sign me up, too!  That's the only thing that has kept me from them over the past couple of years :)

Niiiice.  Sorry I didn't make it out the next day, but I was just too burnt out with the previous week, wedding, the afternoon of drifting, the wedding reception, and then a friend getting in a wreck at 3am. lolol

I read your thread.  Might I offer some suggestions?  I'd stay away from the aftermarket tension rods.  While they offer a lot less flex and a more solid feel, the also move the pivot point closer to the control arm by the way they bolt up.  This means more caster change through the suspension stroke.  I'm sure a lot of people don't notice, but It's not something I would want to do.  I'd recommend just going with the Prothane bushings for the stock tension rods.  They offer plenty of adjustment.

Also, the Ueo (and similar) tie rods are super expensive.  Just run Moog stuff.  And if you feel that you still need more angle after caster adjustment, start playing with the steering knuckles.  I just hate to see people spend hundreds of dollars on parts that are likely to break before their time anyway.  No matter what, though, good luck with it!

General Discussion / Re: hallett raceway event?

I would be quite interested.  I can't guarantee I'd make the first one, but if you did a second one, I would do my best to make it out.  My car just needs too much work over the next few months to make it out before spring.  I plan on tearing the car apart after the Nov 18 event.

We are planning on making it out.  On the 27th, our whole group has a wedding (for which I am the dj).  We are going to plan on showing up late, between the ceremony and the reception, since there is like an eight hour gap between the two.

Hey everybody, I'm Brock.  I enjoy short walks on the beach, extremely sweet iced tea, discussions of impending doom, and chicks with three nipples.  I'm from Fort Worth and part of Slide Factory.  I need to make it to more events, it's been tough with reconstructing the Deathstar from the flood that she fell victim to, and then moving.  I hope to make it out for most of the October stuff, though.

*thanks to John Roper for the pictures

And if anyone feels the need to track me down at an event, I'll be the big guy pointing at his own junk...
